Letters from the 'Grove, Part 2

Wow! The support for Landgroove 2026 has been overwhelming. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has pitched in financially to help make this event happen. The registry is officially complete, and we now have more than $3,000 in the coffers! The infrastructure needs are met, the major projects are underway, and we can finally move on to the really important stuff: DECORATIONS, FOOD AND DRINKS!!!

With less than two weeks until the big shebang, there is a LOT of action happening at the ’Grove…

Brian and Justin have officially completed the barn renovations! The barn is standing tall, solid, and ready to become the beating heart of the weekend once again.

And now we’ve gotten right into the fun stuff: cleaning, organizing, decorating, and figuring out where the hell everything goes. Many thanks to Justin for appearing from the ether on Sunday to help me just as my cleaning efforts were getting underway. Solid festie intuition on that boy!

The new bar is under construction!!! The structure is built, Ray is hanging the funky lights, and Brian is getting ready to cut us a cool slab countertop from one of the beams salvaged from the old cabin! What should we name it???

Bob and Ray have been wrangling the water situation, and the new system is coming together… more or less. There are still a few kinks to work out, both physically and metaphorically, but we’re optimistic about our troubleshooting options.

Meanwhile, the sink situation is looking GREAT. Liam whipped up a badass sink and counter unit in less than four hours last weekend. We now have a bonafide washing station, complete with counter space and… well, TBD on that running water. The sink is still a work of art, though.

In between all of the infrastructure tasks Ray is working on, he’s also making a LIGHT SCULPTURE. Because what is Landgroove without something glowing mysteriously in the darkness? Love you, Dad!

It is pretty amazing to look around and see how much has happened in such a short time. And it is even more awesome to see everyone showing up and putting the work in. The cabin is gone, the barn is stronger than ever, we have water(ish), we have a sink, we have a bar in progress, and the whole place is starting to look like our festival grounds again.

We still have plenty of food and beverage expenses ahead of us, so if you haven’t contributed yet, there is absolutely still time to throw a few dollars into the Landgroove coffers. Every little bit helps keep the weekend delicious, hydrated, and generally well supplied.

But more importantly, now is the time to tell us where you want to help! There are lots of little jobs that make the whole thing work, and we want to make it easy for everyone to pitch in where they actually want to. Food prep, setup, decorating, bartending, cleanup, breakdown, general mayhem management… there is a place for you!

Letters from the 'Grove, Part 1

So much has happened in the last few years, months, weeks, and even days!

My vision this year for Landgroove is simple: make it happen!!! After an unexpected hiatus and other life events, it will truly be an accomplishment for us all to be together, listening to music, eating good food, and staying dry. But with a little teamwork, I know we can pull off so much more. My favorite vision is the barn, full of life and music, with light spilling out in all directions. So if that sounds good to you, let’s gather the people, tune the instruments, light the fire, and see what happens!

Here is what’s new at Landgrove…

The cabin is no more! Earlier this spring, the last remaining bits of the original cabin were scraped away forever and now there is a beautiful flat piece of land to play on. We will be putting the big tent there, which will act as a shelter, kitchen, and eating area.

The barn is getting a much needed facelift from Brian H. and Justin!! After several years, its slight lean turned into a major slump and we thought we might actually lose the southern wall. But Brian and Justin have removed the dormer, fixed the ridge beam, and propped everything back into place. It's never looked better!! As usual, the barn will be our main music and groove area.

Right now, Dad and Bob are building a “water shed” over the old cabin utility hookups to house everything needed to power a sink and water spigot. As of Wednesday, it was pumping water! All we need to do now it hook up the fixtures.

With much love from Dad and mowing help from Ted, the yard is looking stunning and ready for frolicking and camping. In fact, we highly recommend camping this year (fingers crossed for good weather!). Don't worry, there will be porta-potties. But if camping isn't your thing, there are plenty of great Airbnbs nearby.

On Memorial Day weekend, a contingent of helpers descended on the barn to help touch all the corners and throw away all the junk that's accumulated. It was so fun to turn on all the lights and start dreaming up this year's decorations and layout. We definitely did not almost burn everything to the ground either!

On the docket is building a new bar, hanging some new lights, and shuffling all the cards into place.

There are still lots of details to work out and plenty of places to pitch in. For example, the tent company we had previously used doesn't exist anymore, so we will need to crowdsource coolers, tables, and chairs. Without the cabin, it will all feel a bit more “exposed,” if you have an easy up or shelter-type situation that can be donated for general use during the weekend that would be amazing! If you'd like to share your music, art, or talents with us, well, that would make my heart burst with joy. The magic of Landgroove comes from building together and celebrating each other.
